Creo Elements/Pro, previously Pro/ENGINEER and now Creo Parametric, is a parametric, integrated 3D CAD/CAM/CAE system developed by Parametric Technology Corporation. It was the first company to introduce parametric, feature-based, associative solid modelling software to the market. For mechanical engineers, the programme works on the Microsoft Windows platform and includes solid modelling, assembly modelling and drawing, finite element analysis, and NC and tooling capability. With the introduction of version 4.0, all UNIX versions were retired, with the exception of Solaris on x86-64. On October 28, 2010, PTC announced Creo, a new design software application package, and the Pro/ENGINEER moniker was renamed to Creo Elements/Pro. After version 2, Creo Elements/Pro will be phased out in favour of the Creo design suite. Creo Elements/Pro, and now Creo Parametric, compete with CATIA and NX in the market.
